God Never Gives Too Little
Nathan then said to David,
“You are the man! Thus says the LORD God of Israel, ‘It is I who anointed you king over Israel and it is I who delivered you from the hand of Saul. I also gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your care, and I gave you the house of Israel and Judah; and if that had been too little, I would have added to you many more things like these!'”

I desire things selfishly even though God has richly blessed me beyond what I would ask for. Like King David I disregard and devalue some of God’s gifts in order to chase after things that are self-destructive to my heart, mind and distracting to my soul. He is my God and the lover of who I am and it is being made in His image that imparts eternal value to me. What God wants for me is the best yet I seek things that are not in my best interest. In retraining me He is gentle and merciful.
As Jehovah said to David, if I’d truly needed more things added to me, He would’ve given them. God it’s gracious and loving. I try to remind myself that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is wonderful beyond measure and His gifts are greater for me, those who know me and His glory than anything I would choose for myself.
