Here’s one of those cool things we learn about God because He tells us about Himself.
Anyone can thank God regardless of how they understand Him. There are certainly greater steps to be taken in knowing Him personally but anyone can and should thank Him.

In this letter Paul spells out things about God for mature believers (Romans 15:14 – “I am satisfied … that you are… filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another.“).
Paul states that God has revealed Himself to all people. He says that God has shown His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, clearly to all people through nature. Read more... (269 words, 1 image, estimated 1:05 mins reading time)

If you want to be wise, think before you speak!
Some people make cutting remarks,
but the words of the wise bring healing.
Proverbs 12:18, NLT
Our words are gifted with the power to praise the living God who created the universe or to curse people who are made in His image.
… no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!

While reading through Ruth I was struck by several things about Ruth’s story and a parallel between her and her best-known great grandson, King David.

Physical Beauty
Firstly, Ruth was not noted for her beauty. That’s not to say she was homely but when Ruth asked Boaz why she’d found favor with him he answered that it was “All that you have done for your mother-in-law ….” Read more... (1335 words, 3 images, estimated 5:20 mins reading time)

In a recent small group session we discussed ways we can see how David fit into God’s greater plan, including some of David’s Psalms. King David is credited with over 70 psalms, almost half of the psalms in the Bible. In one of his first, Psalm 59, David tucks a clause in that struck me.
O my Strength, I will watch for you, for you, O God, are my fortress.
Psalm 59:9 ESV

A Bible study from me related to why I see God as jealous of His people (both those of Jewish heritage and those children of Abraham through faith).

Then Moses climbed up the mountain, and the cloud covered it. And the glory of the LORD settled down on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day the LORD called to Moses from inside the cloud. To the Israelites at the foot of the mountain, the glory of the LORD appeared at the summit like a consuming fire. – Exodus 24:15-17 NLT Read more...
